Scanning Slides and Negatives – Frequently Asked Questions

How do I place an order?

Information to place an order can be found here.

What size can you scan?

Currently we scan 35mm slides and 35mm negatives.

Can you remove all the mould from my slides?

Yes and no. Our Deluxe Scan can reduce a great deal of the problem. In most cases, this is all that's needed. However, to restore badly damaged images (see example on the right), you may need to order our Retouching Service.

What format do you use?

Each slide or negative is scanned and saved to individual computer files. The standard format we use is JPG. We can also scan slides and negatives up to 4000dpi and save them in practically any format you require such as TIFF. Contact us if you need this special service.

Do I get my originals back?

All slides and negatives are returned to you in their original condition. They are not harmed in the transfer processes we use.

What size image will I receive?

Our slides and negatives are scanned with a commercial scanner creating a 600dpi output. This size image will print a high quality photo. The finished photo size will be approximately 6" x 4" when you print it yourself or take it to a print shop. Higher dpi is available.

Do you put it on a CD or DVD?

Scanned slides and negatives are recorded onto a CD. This is what you'll get back along with your originals. An average of 300 to 400 slides and/or negatives at 600dpi will fit on one CD.

We will use as many CDs as needed to transfer all your slides and negatives at no extra cost.

Once put on CD, you can easily view the slides by using your home computer. You can also email individual files from the CD to your family and friends.

If you want a DVD that you can play on your TV, please see our Video Slideshows.

Do I need to give you a blank disc?

No. We provide all CDs required FREE with your order.
